Kochi Metro rail started the construction of the extension from SN Junction to Tripunithura on Monday.
KMRL plans to adopt a unique steel open girder design to overcome the challenge in the presence of railway overbridge with a sharp curve of 152 meter radius. A 60 meter special span will be constructed to overcome this challenge.
Consortium of KEC-VNC is engaged for the extension which is now doing an initial pile load test to validate the safe pile capacity considered.
